Some unlucky visitors to a hospital in Jerusalem likely wound up needing a ride home after a sinkhole spontaneously erupted in a parking lot and devoured several cars. The strange event reportedly occurred on Monday afternoon outside of the Shaare Zedek Medical Center. As people inside the building look on in astonishment, the sinkhole initially opened up and swallowed just one car. However, it subsequently continued to grow and pulled multiple other vehicles down into the expanding pit.
Emergency personnel were quickly dispatched to the scene to tend to any unfortunate individuals who may have been inside the cars before they fell into the sinkhole. Thankfully, no one was inside the vehicles that fell victim to the event and, as such, there were no injuries reported. It is believed that the chasm formed due to the collapse of a tunnel being constructed beneath the parking lot and the hospital. One assumes that those who lost their cars to the sinkhole got a pass on having to pay for the unexpected extended stay in the parking lot.
