Jeff O'Driscoll, MD, cared for patients in the emergency department of a level-1 trauma center for 25 years. He saw people with nearly every imaginable illness or injury, and some that were almost unimaginable. Dr. O'Driscoll welcomed souls newly arriving into this sphere of existence and bid farewell to those who were leaving. Sometimes he encountered individuals who hovered between.
Dr. O'Driscoll first met an unconscious Jeff Olsen in a trauma suite on the night of Jeff’s accident. They have now been friends for over twenty years and have discussed at length the sometimes-tenuous terrain near the borders of mortality and the lessons to be learned from venturing beyond the veil. Dr. O'Driscoll has recently taken a leave of absence from the emergency department to do medical consulting and to write about his experiences of the last quarter century.
Dr. O'Driscoll received his medical degree at the University of Utah and completed a residency in internal medicine at LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City. He is board certified in internal medicine and is a fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians. He has published works in theology, ancient scripture, biology, history, medical science and medical administration. He recently published a series of children’s books and his first novel.
