A longstanding and maddeningly elusive dream for the future is inching closer to reality as the FAA has granted approval for testing on a drone-sized version of a proposed flying car.
Currently under development by the company Terrafugia, the flying car dubbed TF-X is a vertical takeoff and landing vehicle that will travel at an amazing 200 miles per hour.
The FAA approval for drone testing is seen as a breakthrough for the company as it hopes use the tests to better understand in-flight elements which may effect the vehicle and allow for researchers to refine its design.
Aspiring flying car owners may want to wait before making room in their garage for the TF-X as Terrafugia executives estimate that it will take another eight years before the vehicle is available for consumers.
