A trio of thieves pilfered an iconic portion of the International UFO Museum in Roswell this past weekend when they stole the building's flying saucer!
The rather large UFO was a fixture of the Roswell urban landscape in that it was affixed to the side of the museum as if an alien had made a wrong turn and crashed.
However, after a fall from a storm, the museum haphazardly left it behind the building until it could be reattached in the spring.
That had been the plan until early Sunday morning when a group of ne'er-do-wells took the saucer from its low security storage.
Fortunately, much of the dastardly act was caught on video, which may lead to the apprehension of the craft burglars and, more importantly, the safe return of the UFO.
As to what may have motivated the crime, there are many possibilities.
The pranksters may have been confused by the nature of Sunday's Alien Abduction Day, thinking they were supposed to abduct an alien and settled on a UFO instead.
Or, on a similar note, perhaps absconding with the UFO was a political statement of retaliation against the ETs for their constant kidnapping of humans.
Certainly both could be plausible motives for the caper, but the most likely scenario suggests it was probably some kind of frat initiation.
