Haunted Objects

About the show

Paranormal experts Rosemary Ellen Guiley and John Zaffis shared stories from their new book, Haunted by the Things You Love, which deals with haunted objects. "Intense emotions can create thought-form energy that becomes imbued into an object," Guiley explained, noting that a spirit will transfer itself to the object when it leaves the ownership of that person. A haunting can be triggered when a decedent's request about possessions is not honored, Zaffis added. According to Guiley, the most insidious kind of haunted objects are those which have been deliberately cursed. "You could be dealing with something that has a deliberate intent/purpose that the item is given to somebody to really wreak havoc within the paranormal realm against an individual," Zaffis said.

The experiences that accompany a haunted object can be quite terrifying. In one case, a woman purchased two creepy clown dolls from a thrift store to add to her collection and after taking them to her home immediately began having activity, including the dolls moving around on their own, Zaffis revealed. Another woman contacted Zaffis about a similar collectible clown doll that was causing frightening phenomena in her house and he traced both doll purchases to the same consignment shop. The store owner admitted that she had sold a total of five dolls and felt something was wrong with all of them, he reported. The remaining two clown dolls eventually showed up on Zaffis' porch and have been added to his extensive museum of haunted items.

Guiley recounted the story of a teenage boy who purchased a rather ugly ritual object from a garage sale. The object took hold of him and implanted thoughts that he should perform rituals with it, she said, adding that the object had once been used in dark ritual magic. The teen's life soon fell apart and he was possessed by an entity that sought to kill him, she continued. Guiley detailed the story of husband and wife collectors who brought an African death bed into their home and began experiencing poltergeist occurrences, dark shadows, and chronic health issues. They removed the object and its second and third recipients reported experiencing similar phenomena, she disclosed. The two also spoke about haunted mirrors, a ritual robe, and a clay oil lamp with a Jinn attached to it.

The last hour of the program featured Open Lines.
