In the first half, chronicler of the occult and esoteric, Mitch Horowitz, discussed the "13 steps to riches" (from Napoleon Hill's classic book Think and Grow Rich), why they work, and the one thing that people seeking prosperity must do. Hill stressed that the single most important thing is for people to have one intensely felt goal about which they are so passionate, that it becomes an obsession. Most people have a more scattered focus with a variety of goals, and this can hold them back from achieving prosperity as outlined by Hill, Horowitz noted.
One of Hill's steps highlights the need for cooperation, and getting along with other people. "None of us get where we are on our own, and if we are negative, if we are intolerant, we are going to fail," said Horowitz. A key exercise of Hill's involves not only writing down your specific goal, but also writing down a sum of money that you want to earn for providing this service to the world, and the date that you will achieve it by. Positive affirmations are another useful tool, Horowitz continued, and the mind is particularly suggestible just as you're drifting into sleep, or just as you're waking up.
In the latter half, Director of the International Academy of Consciousness (IAC), Luis Minero, talked about the nature of out-of-body experiences (OBEs). These experiences offer a variety of benefits, he suggested, such as acquiring evidence of life after death, improving interpersonal relationships, promoting overall health, contacting friends or relatives who have passed away, exploring past lives, and achieving higher levels of ethics and understanding. During an OBE, you can also have contact with spirit guides, benign or evolved beings who can offer consultations and advice, he noted.
According to Minero, OBEs are not dangerous and if the physical body requires attention, you will feel a tug of the "silver cord" and snap back into your physical consciousness. One interesting aspect to out-of-body travel is that one's sense of time can become altered. Though a typical OBE lasts between 15 to 25 clock minutes, it can seem like hours or even days, when in the other realm, he cited. While the IAC has research and educational centers in nine countries, the Los Angeles chapter offers an array of lectures, labs, and classes where specific techniques for having OBEs are taught and applied.
