Richard Dolan

Biography:

Richard M. Dolan was born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1962. He holds an MA in History from the University of Rochester and a BA in History from Alfred University. He earned a Certificate in Political Theory from Oxford University and was a Rhodes Scholar finalist. Prior to his interest in anomalous phenomena, Dolan studied US Cold War strategy, Soviet history, and international diplomacy.

In 2000, he published a 500-page study, UFOs and the National Security State. This is the first volume of a two-part historical narrative of the national security dimensions of the UFO phenomenon from 1941 to the present. Included are the records of more than fifty military bases relating to innumerable violations of sensitive airspace by unknown objects, demonstrating that the US military has taken the topic of UFOs seriously indeed.

Apollo 14 astronaut Dr. Edgar Mitchell has called Dolan's book "monumental," while Dr. Hal Puthoff, Director of the Institute for Advanced Studies at Austin, has declared it to be "a must-read for serious students in the field."Dolan has published numerous articles on anomalous phenomena, science, and the intelligence community for UFO Magazine. In 2003, he helped to found Phenomena, a magazine dedicated to leading edge issues pertaining to science and society, and for which he continues to serve as Senior Editor and regular contributor.Richard Dolan also continues to research and write volume two of UFOs and the National Security State. He lives with his family in Rochester, New York.

Author and historian Richard Dolan returned to discuss UFO disclosure and the Obama administration, as well as other UFO related subjects. While Obama expressed zero interest in UFOs during the campaign, the head of his transition team, John Podesta, went public in 2002, calling for the government to end UFO secrecy. Obama is well positioned to come clean on this issue, as he wouldn't take the blame for hiding the truth, Dolan noted. However, now that Obama is the representative for America's immense power structure, disclosure could come with serious legal and political effects, he added. Obama is not as much of an outsider as he's been portrayed, and it's possible he's already been briefed about the UFO situation, Dolan commented. Appearing during the first half of the show, Nobel laureate and Physics Professor Robert B. Laughlin discussed the impact of knowledge increasingly being sequestering from the public. While a certain amount of information is kept secret for legitimate military or security purposes (such as how to build an atomic bomb), more and more knowledge is being restricted for economic reasons, he explained. Many companies consider ideas to be their intellectual property. Laughlin also touched on developments in cloning and weaponry, and expressed his doubts that black holes actually exist. In a UFO Special, researcher & filmmaker James Fox and author Richard Dolan appeared separately and together to discuss disclosure, notable UFO cases and confrontations. Appearing during the second hour, Fox was joined by Stephenville, Texas UFO witness Ricky Sorrells, a metalworker who encountered a huge craft at close range. The object had a dull gray finish with inverted cone shapes coming out of its undersides, Sorrells recalled. It was large enough that a plane could have landed on it, he previously told Fox. For his upcoming film, tentatively titled Beyond the Blue, Fox interviewed airline pilot Ray Bowyer who witnessed a huge craft over the Channel Islands during a flight in 2007. Author and historian Richard Dolan discussed his work in ufology, and the structure of secrecy surrounding the issue. Interestingly, he believes that rather than the government protecting secrets about UFOs, such information may be "proprietary" to private companies and black projects that are developing technology based on acquisitions. He cited several UFO cases that he considers noteworthy (but not well known) including a 1988 incident at Lake Erie where an object hovered over the water, revolving slowly, and a bluish object seen zipping over Washington D.C. in 2002, that had F-16s chasing it. There are many reports of hostile military encounters with UFOs, he noted, but in a 1975 incident, numerous UFOs violated US airspace across the Northern border, and the military did nothing. Author and researcher Richard Dolan discussed UFO cover-ups and secrecy and how it has "affected so much of our significant history," and altered the relationship between the U.S. government and its citizens.Dolan said secret UFO programs are so "deeply compartmentalized" that not even Congress knows about them. He admitted that several U.S. presidents, including Truman, Eisenhower, and Kennedy, knew about UFOs and were briefed regularly about them. President Truman, for instance, received quarterly UFO reports from General Robert Landry, Dolan reported. The author of the note, Scott L., said while making his late night rounds at the mall, he discovered a radio had been left on. After shutting it off and continuing his rounds, he came back to find the radio playing again and saw a ghostly figure dressed in white wedding gown.
