Jeffrey Long

Biography:

Dr. Jeffrey Long is a leading near-death experience (NDE) researcher. He founded the Near Death Experience Research Foundation (nderf.org), and two other web sites devoted to experiences related to NDE, After Death Communication Research Foundation (adcrf.org) and Out of Body Experience Research Foundation (oberf.org). Dr. Long also serves on the Physician Advisory Committee of IANDS (International Association for Near-Death Studies (iands.org) and Chairs the IANDS Research Committee. This family of web sites is the largest publicly accessible collection of exceptional human experiences of their type available. This is leading to increasing awareness that worldwide and across cultural boundaries we all share these types of experiences, and they are similar to a degree that is medically inexplicable.

Near Death Research

Tuesday December 9, 2008

Founder of the Near Death Experience Research Foundation, Dr. Jeffrey Long MD shared research about NDEs, culled from over 1,600 cases. NDEs are lucid experiences that a person undergoes while unconscious or clinically dead that cannot be medically explained. While each NDE is unique, there is a remarkable amount of similarity and order to the experience, even among people from non-Western cultures, he reported. ... More

Near Death Experiences

Sunday April 23, 2006

Filling in for Art Bell, George Noory welcomed Dr. Jeffrey Long, the founder of nderf.org. Long presented an in-depth look at the nature of Near Death Experiences (NDEs). He commented that a recent study that claimed to show a physiological correlate to NDEs (involving REM aberrations) had serious methodology problems and that there was still no medical explanation for the phenomenon. He also noted that some people who have NDEs come back from them with new abilities-- in the psychic and healing realms for instance. Long brought on Kim Sharp of the Seattle chapter of the International Association for Near Death Studies, who shared her near death experience. She described being in a grey "corridor of consciousness" that had sparks of light. Suddenly, the light exploded around her and she found herself "beholding eternity." ... More

Bird Flu & Vaccines

Tuesday April 11, 2006

Expert in alternative medicine and founder of OsteoMed II, Dr. Sherri Tenpenny shared an in-depth look at vaccines and bird flu. She views bird flu as an environmental issue rather than a health care crisis. In Asia, a variety of pollutants such as dioxin, pesticides and raw sewage in the water supply can disrupt the immune systems of migratory birds and chickens and make them more susceptible to the H5N1 virus, she explained. Tenpenny said that the culling of rural chickens and the destruction of small farms is an agenda of multinational agribusinesses who favor "vertical" industrial farming. Their methods include genetically modifying chickens so that their growth cycle is greatly reduced (if humans grew as fast as GM chickens they'd weigh 350 lbs. by the age of two). Warning about the upcoming H5N1 flu shot, Tenpenny said the cell lines being used for the vaccine may be grown from dog kidneys, caterpillar eggs and other material that will have a strong possibility for viral ... Near Death Accounts

Sunday September 19, 2004

Dr. Jeff Long (nderf.org), a leading researcher into Near Death Experiences shared his latest findings on the phenomenon. Some 5% of the population reports having had this kind of experience, he said. NDEs often occur after all brain activity has ceased, which makes the commonly reported occurrences such as floating above the body or seeing a light in a tunnel "medically inexplicable," he commented. Dr. Long brought Vicki Noratuk onto the program to present her remarkable NDE story which happened to her after she was seriously injured in a car accident in 1973. Blind since birth, Noratuk said she had no vision whatsoever, and even her dreams had no visual component. However, when she left her body after the accident she could suddenly see the environment which appeared "eerie and foreign" to her. During a period when she could not be revived, she described being in a "light body" that was sucked up into a "tube thing" that transported her at a high rate of speed, passing a hellis ... More

Near Death Experiences

Monday February 24, 2003

"The bottom line is what's on the other side is home," said Dr. Jeff Long, an oncologist who became an expert on the near death experience (NDE) and set up a web site (nderf.org) as a repository for people's NDE descriptions. Long said the case studies present a "consistent and persistent" picture of what happens when people temporarily die and have a "lucid experience" of perceived consciousness. "It is inexplicable medically," Dr. Long said, describing how experiencers see themselves from 6-8 ft. above their body and then go on to encounter loving telepathic presences who are often deceased blood relatives. One of the most difficult things for those who have NDEs is coming back to earthly existence. "It's more real over there than here on Earth," said Long. Reports of this realm include seeing vibrant colors not present here. It's "something far grander than what we're used to," Long said, adding that he believes the other side is a unique co-creation between the person and the ... More
