Dean Radin
Biography:
Dean Radin earned a BSEE, magna cum laude, in electrical engineering from the University of Massachusetts. He also has an MS in electrical engineering and a PhD in psychology, both from the University of Illinois. For 10 years, he conducted research on advanced telecommunications systems at AT&T Bell Laboratories and GTE Laboratories. Then for the majority of the last 20 years, he has investigated psychic phenomena full time in academic and industrial positions.
Dean served as a member of a classified research project investigating psychic phenomena for the US government at SRI International, and headed psi research programs in Silicon Valley for two scientific and industrial think-tanks. He has been Senior Scientist at the Institute of Noetic Sciences since 2001, and is also Adjunct Faculty at Sonoma State University in California. Dean's research has been featured in numerous magazines and he has appeared on several radio and television programs. In addition, he authored the book, The Conscious Universe.

Art Bell welcomed Dean Radin of the Institute of Noetic Sciences, who offered analysis of the Global Consciousness Project and discussed his new book Entangled Minds. The Project measures the movement or "ocean" of consciousness through changes in random number generators that are set up around the world, he explained. Eight years of data looking at 204 major world events has shown that a kind of "coherence" takes place associated with these incidents, in which the numbers become less random. The overall odds against chance of this occurring are roughly 300,000 to 1, Radin reported. Scientist and author Dr. Dean Radin discussed his scientific research into consciousness and psychic phenomena. He reported on the testing of random number generators (called "eggs") which show statistical anomalies where the numbers behave in a less random fashion in relation to certain events. For instance, 3 hours before the first jet hit during 9-11 there was a "change in the world network," indicating that the generators were picking up "a giant wave of consciousness," he said. Dr. Michael Shermer, the publisher of Skeptic Magazine and a columnist for Scientific American debated three scientists, one each hour, on various aspects of scientific thought and the paranormal. The first was Gary Schwartz, Ph.D., a professor at the Univ. of Arizona, who presented evidence that certain mediums who claim to communicate with the departed are yielding accurate information. This can't be conventionally explained, and the most likely conclusion is that there is survival of consciousness after death, said Schwartz. Shermer replied that the evidence is slim and fraught with experimental design problems. Celebrated scientist and author Dean Radin (ions.org) talked about consciousness and psychic phenomena, as well as discussed Princeton University's Global Consciousness Project, also known as the EGG Project. The EGG Project uses about 70 random event generators (called "eggs") scattered around the globe to measure the "pulse of the planet," Radin said. The eggs produce a continuous sequence of fundamentally unpredictable numbers, he explained, but sometimes their behavior changes and the eggs begin simultaneously generating non-random results. A formal analysis of several events measured by the EGG Project has shown a 50,000 to 1 chance of order (non-random results) appearing when there should not have been any, and precursor readings 2-4 hours in advance of the event itself, Radin noted. Scientist and author, Dr. Dean Radin (ions.org) shared evidence for the reality of psychic phenomena, and the contention that mind and matter are related in certain ways. "We're more hurt by people making wild claims than by skeptics," Radin said of the field of psychic study, in which he has sought to present data of replicable experiments.
