Poltergeists! |
|
| Thursday October 26, 2006 |
Prolific author Brad Steiger returned for a discussion on the most bizarre phenomenon in all of psychical research-- the poltergeist. Ghosts haunt houses, but poltergeists haunt people, he explained, noting that cases typically center around kids going through puberty, especially females. On one level they may be aware that they are controlling or inspiring the events, yet dark spirits can also have latched onto them, he said.Phenomena usually start subtly with scratching or knocking sounds which progress to voices, and psychokinetic activity such as furniture moving and levitation. Objects are often thrown, but you never see them being launched-- they are already in mid air when spotted, he detailed. Sometimes there is violence, such as invisible biting and scratching. A poltergeist case usually runs itself out in two weeks, but Steiger said sometimes they can go on for months or even years. The Bell Witch case (Steiger recommends this DVD about it) from the 1820's

In the1st hour Glenn Kessler of HCD Research discussed a survey of physicians that his organization conducted that showed a 74% belief in miracles. The survey also revealed that a majority of doctors encourage prayer for their patients and sometimes even pray for them themselves. AuthorsBrad & Sherry Steiger discussed miracles and shared inspirational stories of healings in the middle two hours of the show. We believe there's a "miracle factor," that is not fully understood, said Brad. He recounted the story of Bobby, an 8-year old boy who had cancer that had spread to his lungs. While being given a radiation treatment, the boy had an angelic encounter in which he was taken to heaven and told he wasn't going to die. Shortly afterwards, all signs of his cancer had disappeared. Speaking of the power of prayer and mass prayer, Sherry said it could be like a "carrier wave," a field of consc

Ghosts & Hauntings |
|
| Thursday October 30, 2003 |
Master ghost hunter, Brad Steiger (bradandsherry.com) paid a pre-Halloween visit on Thursday night, sharing tales of hauntings and apparitions. "The unseen world is very near," said Steiger, who added that he believes ghosts are all around us. As a child, Steiger said he had ghostly visitations from two stern figures, which he later realized upon seeing photos, were his great grandparents. "The supernatural is simply the natural we don't understand," he commented. Steiger advised using basic "protection mechanisms" when entering a haunted place that has had a past history of violence. These included prayer, visualizing being surrounded in white light and asking for a blessing. One such disturbing location where Steiger said he "almost lost it," was a home where reoccurring murders had taken place. There were accounts of "blood flowing out of faucets," and dark entities seen moving around the rooms, he reported.
