Paul Selig (video) had a spiritual experience in 1987 that left him clairvoyant. As a way to gain a context for what he was experiencing, he started a program for self-realization, as dispensed through beings of higher intelligence, sometimes called Guides or Ascended Masters. Selig joined guest host Lisa Garr (email) to discuss how these Guides provide psychological and existential insights, along with self-developing exercises and affirmations, which begin to strip away residues of fear, self-doubt, and self-suffocating habits.
Selig recalled the moment he began seeing lights around people. Violet is a high-level Guide, white is someone living or crossed, and blue is an aspect of a person's higher consciousness, he explained. According to Selig, his Guides dictate books to him, and these channeled texts come out fully-formed and are not edited. "What they're really taking us through.... is a system and process of realizing our own true self or divine self, whatever you want to call it, in form," he said.
The words provide intellectual context for the energy which informs the text, Selig continued, noting how readers have reported feeling energy when encountering the text—a phenomenon which he says also happens at his workshops. Selig explained the differences between channeling and his psychic work, where he steps into a person and interprets information. "I believe that I'm stepping into the energy field of somebody else," he said, noting it can happen at the level of personality or the person’s higher self.

In the latter half, William Peters of the Shared Crossing Project, talked about how to raise awareness and educate people about the profound and healing experiences that are possible at the end of a life. He uses unique protocols that enhance the possibility for a shared crossing or a shared death experience with a loved one at the end of life.
Peters shared details from his own near death experience where he traveled to the light. "I realized I was dying and I did not want to die," he said, noting how he pleaded with God but his trajectory into the light continued. According to Peters, the light pushed back on him and gave him a message to make something of his life. Another NDE provided Peters with a valuable teaching about the nature of his physical form. "I am not this body... any part of me that I would call the deepest part of myself is not related or dependent upon this physical body," he said.
He described his work as a psychopomp, assisting souls into the afterlife, and how he came to discover shared death/out of body experiences. Peters recalled reading a Jack London novel to a patient in hospice care when both he and the patient popped out of their bodies, and could see an interact with one another. He now teaches people how to prepare the soul for its journey, release from the body, turn to the light, and call to surviving loved ones from the afterlife.
