Future Trends/ Finding Happiness & Soulmates

About the show

In the first half, futurist Dr. James Canton gave us a glimpse of coming trends in health, technology, and medicine. To be what he calls "future smart" we need to become faster adapters and predictors of what's coming next, he remarked. Technology has really been the catalyst for change, and the fact that people are connected to the Internet everywhere "has really changed the game of our society," he said. We may be in the era of "information warfare" in which different factions try to influence us around a variety of motivations. Further, technology such as robotics, drones, and AI are rapidly remaking our world, and will do so even more in the years ahead.

What he calls "regenerative medicine" will help to predict and prevent illness, and within the next 10 years, the human lifespan could be dramatically extended to between 120-150 years, he enthused. It's hoped that drugs, devices, and procedures will identify and manage disease, and turn off the genes associated with senility and Alzheimer's, so that people can have a good quality of life if they are living longer, he added. Climate change and rising sea levels will cause much upheaval in the coming years, he pointed out, but engineering to deal with it will become an economic driver and create massive business opportunities. Canton further envisions the development of mega-cities in orbit around Earth, off-world, and even underwater.

In the latter half, love and relationship expert Arielle Ford discussed methods to reduce stress and find happiness, as well as her mission to help others find their soulmate. When stressed out, she advised people to make pleasure their priority, though for women and men these can be different activities. Taking salt baths is a great way to remove negative energies, and EFT Tapping is another way to shift energies and increase happiness, she cited.

Ford suggests practicing the Law of Attraction, visualizing what you want, such as love in your life, and being grateful for having it. "It's not your job to know how or when it's going to happen, but it is your job to know and trust that what you've asked for is already yours," she commented. A soulmate is someone you can completely be yourself with, share love, and "when you look into their eyes, you have the experience of being home," she detailed. We have many possible soulmates, she explained, and they aren't necessarily your romantic partners-- they can be your kids, siblings, parents, co-workers, friends, even your pet. "And you've probably shared past lives with them as well," she added. "I believe we come into this lifetime with a tribe of people that we've been with before."
