To celebrate our upcoming Ghost to Ghost special on Halloween night, C2C is revisiting all thirteen installments of the annual spooktacular in the Coast archive.
Our penultimate tale comes from the 2014 edition of Ghost to Ghost, when Cody in Kentucky told the story of exploring an infamous site in his town and encountering a truly creepy entity.
"Like most smaller towns, we have kind of a 'haunted place,'" he explained, "and out here it's called 'ghost bridge.'"
In his high school days, he said, the bridge had become fairly dilapidated, with holes strewn throughout the structure, likely helping to further the urban legend surrounding it.
According to Cody, the story told among locals was that if someone drove across the old bridge on the night of a full moon, then their car would stall and ghosts would appear.
Having heard the rumors throughout their teenage years, Cody and a group of friends finally decided to see if the story was true.
Late one evening during a full moon, they drove their friend's old Ford Bronco across the bridge and, sure enough, it stalled in the middle of the structure.
Eerily, the truck stopped right near a hole in the bridge and, had the driver just stepped out, he would have fallen right through it.
The teens pushed the stalled truck to the end of the bridge and went into town to get jumper cables to revive the vehicle.
After they got the Bronco running again, they were greeted by a baffling sight.
"When his lights came on, we saw this figure at the other end of the bridge," Cody recalled, "and it was glowing like moonlight."
The brave young men decided to approach the mysterious figure in an attempt to investigate the situation.
Halfway across the bridge, Cody got a glimpse of the 'entity' and said it was "a little girl sitting with her knees up to her chest and this long, flowing black hair covering her face."
As the group got closer to the ghostly girl, they heard an ominous moaning sound coming from the figure.
"We looked at each other, because apparently we all heard it, and that was all that we needed," Cody laughed, "and we just got back in the cars and flew back into town."
