Astronomers Track Visitor From Another Star System

Astronomers have discovered a rare interstellar object named 3I/ATLAS, believed to be only the third known visitor from another solar system. Detected by the ATLAS survey system, the 12-mile-wide object is currently traveling through our solar system at 152,000 mph with a flat, straight trajectory—leading to speculation, though unconfirmed, about possible intelligent control. It is currently about 4.5 times farther from the Sun than Earth and will come closest on October 30th before passing near Mars and eventually Earth again, though NASA assures there is no danger. With limited time for observation, scientists are racing to study it before it exits the solar system, highlighting how little is known about the number of such interstellar travelers.
