Bank Manager in Namibia Convicted of Stealing Thousands to Pay for Witch Doctor

A woman in the African country of Namibia was sentenced to years in prison this week for reportedly using her position as a bank manager to steal the equivalent of over $75,000 USD in order to pay for the services of a traditional healer. According to her accusers, after finding herself in deep financial trouble Engelborg Strauss sought out the services of Mama Lala, a witch doctor. The healer allegedly first tried traditional methods to rid Strauss of her bad luck, then requested large sums of cash in exchange for her services. Strauss was found guilty of dipping into her bank's vault in order to pay Mama Lala, whom she said became increasingly threatening in her demands for money.
