Controversial Theory Connecting Noah's Ark to Human Blood Types

A theory circulating online links the eight survivors of Noah’s Ark, Noah, his wife, his three sons, and their wives, to the eight common human blood types (A+, A-, B+, B-, AB+, AB-, O+, O-), suggesting the numerical match reflects a divine blueprint. Supporters argue that because blood types are inherited through ABO and Rh genes, a small founding group of eight people could theoretically have produced all modern blood types over generations. The idea gained traction on social media, fueled in part by Christian influencer Oliver Burdick, with believers calling the parallel meaningful and even proof of biblical truth.

Skeptics and scientists, however, emphasize that blood types evolved over millions of years through genetic mutations and natural selection, with ancestral forms of the ABO system present in primates more than 20 million years ago. While genetics shows that two parents can produce children with any of the eight blood types, critics argue the connection to Noah’s Ark is symbolic rather than scientific. They also note that the Ark’s survivors were closely related, meaning early populations would have experienced significant inbreeding, further complicating claims that modern blood diversity originated from a single biblical bottleneck.
