'Double Number' Found Hiding in Design of Playing Cards

Whether intentional or not, a design element in most ordinary decks of playing cards was noticed Last Friday, when Twitter user @PlinketyPlink posted an image of the card and the hidden element in its array of diamonds.

The revelation is of course similar to other "hiding in plain sight" graphic tricks that have fascinated people for centuries, such as the "all is vanity" illustration from 1892, the "a to z" Amazon smile logo, and the "illuminati reptilian eye" in the Taco Bell symbol.

The number eight has a special significance in many cultures, including in China, where it is seen as a symbol of good luck. For example, the opening ceremony of the Summer Olympics in Beijing began on 8/8/08 at 8 seconds and 8 minutes past 8 pm, local time.
