Residents of the Mexican state of Michoacan were baffled by the appearance of a bizarre cylindrical cloud that seemed to sport a glowing center.
The oddity was seen by witnesses, who rushed to document the sight with their cell phones, in numerous cities throughout the state.
As one might expect, the spooky cloud spawned social media speculation that the anomaly was a UFO.
Some imaginative individuals even suggested that it was 'aliens warning Mexico' about Donald Trump because the event took place on Inauguration Day.
However, one Mexican media outlet proposed that the 'mystery cloud' was a giant pocket of steam that rose high into the air.
Hopefully a meteorologist will weigh in with a possible weather-related explanation should the 'steam pocket' not hold water.
