Fantastic Photo Conjures Chemtrail Concerns

A photo posted by Ilya Katsman (@theonlyilya) on

An amazing photo taken by an Australian man while flying on an airplane inadvertently spawned a small controversy when angry conspiracy theorists claimed that it was evidence of chemtrails!

Ilya Katsman likely didn't expect an imbroglio to erupt when he posted the photo to his Instagram account, but that's exactly what unfolded after the airline, Virgin Australia, shared it with its Facebook followers.

From there, things escalated rather quickly as several users insisted that the cool collection of clouds was a sinister indication of geoengineering at work.

Advocates of the controversial chemtrail conspiracy cried out against the image, taking the airline to task for glorifying geoengineering and vowing to never fly with them again.

Fortunately, they don't need to cancel their vacation plans just yet as the odd-looking clouds are actually a real, albeit rare, meterological phenomenon known as a 'Morning Glory.'

Although Katsman's encounter was probably not a case of him stumbling upon evidence of a chemtrail conspiracy, there is a bevy of research into geoengineering that is genuinely troubling.
