Scientists at Georgia Tech have gotten their first glimpse of the creatures that live under the Ross Ice Shelf in Antarctica thanks to a new type of robotic probe. Dubbed Icefin, the submersible craft was launched down a 12-inch diameter hole bored through 65 feet of ice and into several hundred feet of freezing water. Video footage from the vehicle shows sea stars, sponges and anemones living on the ocean bottom. The researchers think the technology developed for Icefin could one day assist in the search for life on Jupiter's moon, Europa. More at Mail Online.
