Friday Night Feature: Rare Celestial Event

In tandem with Friday Night Open Lines we will be featuring stories and articles from our listeners on a regular basis. Tonight we hear from AJ McGettigan who writes about an unusual alignment of planetary bodies that is occurring tonight (Jan 31-Feb 1):

Tonight's event will involve the Earth, Moon, Sun, Neptune, and Jupiter. As midnight approaches across the western hemisphere, Jupiter will climbtoward the mid-heaven as Moon and Sun conjoin at the nadir close toNeptune. In layman's terms, this means that for a brief time five of the10 major bodies in our solar system will be arranged in a straight linewith our planet near the top of the line-up (just below Jupiter). Note: The exact time of the new moon will be well aligned with the longitudeof Hilo, Hawaii, where at 12:48 a.m. local time Jupiter will be at themid-heaven and Neptune will be at the nadir.

Astrologically speaking, this event indicates a time when ourmeditations and prayers will be strongly magnified. It signals a momentwhen we may intuitively understand the subtle qualities of our presentexperience. Such insight presents us with the opportunity to make wisedecisions about how to best respond to all that our circumstances arepresently revealing.
