German Teen Finds Grandfather's Gravestone at Haunted House

A haunted house attraction in Germany is under fire for an unsettling commitment to realism after a teenage girl discovered her grandfather's gravestone on display at the site.

The unnamed youngster could not believe her eyes during a visit to 'Dr. Lehmann's Hospital of Horror' when she noticed that one of the gravestones at the attraction featured her grandfather's name.

Upon closer inspection, the girl was horrified to discover that the marker also included the dates of the man's birth and death, indicating that it was his actual gravestone.

A subsequent investigation revealed that the macabre decoration arrived at the haunted house after the man's wife could no longer afford to lease his burial plot and was forced to hire a stonemason to remove the marker.

Apparently thinking that he had come up with a clever way to make some additional money from his work, the man then turned around and sold the gravestone to the haunted house.

After being busted for his double dealing, the apologetic stonemason has given back the removal fee that he charged the outraged man's family and assured them that the attraction would be taking steps to fix the marker so that it no longer bore his name.

Nonetheless, the owners of the haunted house could still face some legal repercussions for their tasteless display as authorities looking into the matter found another real gravestone at the site.

One can only hope that it is only the gravestones that were genuine, since there are almost certainly far more gruesome finds contained inside the 'hospital of horror.'
