Legendary Australian 'River Monster' Spotted?

A fishing trip in Australia turned into a head-scratching experience for a family who caught a glimpse of a mysterious creature lurking in the water that may have been a 'monster' said to call the river home.

Three generations of the Ada family were enjoying an afternoon along the country's Hawkesbury River in the town of Patonga when the weird sighting occurred.

The serenity of their outing was smashed when they suddenly spotted something emerge from the water in a fashion that one family member named Fethi likened to a human.

Just a quickly, the beast was gone, but not before putting a fright into the family as Fethi conceded that he quickly pulled his legs out of the water, lest he fall victim to the monster.

As for what it may have been, one local wildlife expert watched a video of the creature captured by the family and concluded that it was likely a seal.

However, one would be remiss without noting that the Hawkesbury River boasts a rich history of odd creature sightings to the point that some speculate that it is home to a 'monster' along the lines of Loch Ness.

To that end, much as how many say that Nessie is likely an eel, it's entirely possible that both the cryptid and prosaic explanations could fit for this case as the Ada family may have indeed seen the Hawkesbury River Monster and, sadly, that it has been a seal all along.
