Local Theater Group to Re-Create Scotland's Witch Trials

A acting class in Peebles, Scotland is reportedly seeking students who'd like to help memorialize 27 people from the town who were tried and executed for witchcraft in the 1600s. Although the victims are already commemorated by a granite monument in Peebles, as well as in a chapter devoted to them in Borders Witch Hunt, a history of witchcraft trials in that part of Scotland, the acting group's director sees the dramatization of their ordeal as a way to honor them in a unique way. And as the witch hunts of the day targeted men, women, and children, the opportunity to play a role in the theatrical scenes is open to people of all ages.
