Lovesick Ghost Makes It Awkward for New Housemate

By Ryan Stacy

The bitter grudges held by jealous admirers are nothing new. But what if your love rival isn't even on the same plane of existence as you? When Gemma Palfreman moved in with her boyfriend Jason in 2012, she reportedly began to hear strange things in their home: footsteps, doors closing, and growling sounds not caused by anyone in the family. Then Gemma, who said she's been attuned to paranormal activity since she was a child, saw the ghostly apparition of an old woman dressed in Victorian clothing—often at the bedside of her young son, Cameron. A consultation with a psychic revealed the source of the spirit's unrest: she was in love with Jason, and wasn't pleased at all that he'd brought a new woman into the home.

The family eventually moved away, leaving Jason's ghostly pursuer behind, but that wasn't the last of their haunted habitats. Gemma and little Cameron, who had had grown accustomed to the Victorian woman's visits, discovered spirits at their new home—a nineteenth century cottage—as well. One, the ghost of a woman who died their over a century ago, could be seen hanging around on the cottage's landing. As strange as the otherworldly visitors have been, though, Gemma noted that it was important not to be too afraid of their presence. The spirits could be trying to communicate something valuable, she explained.
