Massive Martian Dust Storm

Stunning new images taken from the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter have revealed Mars undergoing a planet-wide transformation. A global dust storm recently engulfed the entire surface of the Red Planet, an occurrence which happens every three to four Mars years (six to eight Earth years). The massive storm can even be seen from Earth using amateur telescopes. "With a decent telescope, observers can see the polar caps growing and shrinking in the dust storms," said Dr. Robert Massey, deputy executive director of the Royal Astronomical Society.
