A colossal star with a mass around 265 times that of our Sun has been detected some 165,000 light years away. Known as R136a1 (pictured in its star cluster), "if it replaced the Sun in our Solar System, it would outshine [it] by as much as the Sun currently outshines the full Moon," astronomer Paul Crowther told BBC News.
