A nearly 60-year-old NASA image of the moon is fueling new speculation about extraterrestrial activity. UFO researcher Scott Waring claims a strange elongated feature photographed by Lunar Orbiter 3 in 1967 is actually a massive spacecraft hovering above the lunar surface. By comparing it with the nearby Theophilus crater, Waring estimates the alleged craft measures roughly 3.4 miles long and argues the image proves aliens were observing humanity before the Apollo moon landings. However, no independent evidence supports his interpretation, and NASA maintains it has found no evidence of extraterrestrial life.
The claim comes amid renewed attention to unusual observations recorded during the Apollo program. Newly released government files include astronaut accounts of bright, flashing or tumbling objects during Apollo 12 and Apollo 17, including Gene Cernan's description of a distant object that appeared to rotate and flash rhythmically. Another recording connected to Apollo 16 contains an offhand reference to an "alien star base" as participants discussed anomalies on the moon's far side. However, the remark's context and seriousness remain unclear. Together, the decades-old photograph and Apollo recordings are providing fresh material for researchers who believe the moon may have hosted more unexplained activity than the official history suggests.
