Much like their counterparts in the rogue science community, NASA scientists occasionally spot strange anomalies on Mars that even they can't explain.
In this instance, it is an odd-looking crater captured in a breathtaking photo taken by the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter.
The monstrous-looking chasm stands out amongst the smaller pits which dot the landscape of frozen carbon dioxide on the surface of the Red Planet.
Scientists at the space agency are uncertain as to how the giant hole was formed and suggest it could have either been due to something impacting the planet or simply a pit collapsing in on itself.
And, in what should come as no surprise, some 'UFO experts' have proposed that the hole is sign of an alien civilization on Mars and that it may even be an entrance to an underground world.
