Rescuers Retrieve Dog from Tree After Squirrel Leads it Astray

A determined dog in pursuit of a squirrel found himself in a pretty precarious position when he wound up stuck 20 feet up in a tree and too terrified to return to terra firma.

The weird incident took place at a park in the English town of Newton Abbot earlier this week when the rambunctious Patterdale Terrier named Tippet took off after a squirrel.

The unyielding animal was apparently unwilling to give up the chase when the savvy squirrel scampering up a tree that happened to have grown over a river.

With the squirrel having escaped his clutches, poor Tippet took a look around and realized that he was not very high up in the air with some worrisome water below him.

And it was there that he remained until firefighters and rescue workers arrived on the scene armed to save the disoriented dog.

Armed with a makeshift ramp fashioned out of a ladder and tarp, the rescuers were able extract the confused creature from the tree after some coaxing inspired Tippet to take the proverbial leap of faith.
