Scientists Defrost Ancient Frozen Dog

An ancient puppy that was found frozen along the banks of a Siberian river may reveal a wealth of new insights into the distant past after Russian scientists defrosted the dog.

The curious canine is believed to have lived 12,400 years ago and its mummified remains, including an intact brain, were found in remarkably good condition.

As such, researchers opted to unfreeze the dog in an attempt to learn more about the animal and the era when it roamed the Earth.

They hope to learn what sort of insects may be found in its fur as well as the kinds of bacteria contained within its body.

Additionally, scientists hope to decipher whether the dog was a wild beast or a domesticated companion of ancient man.

Incredibly, material from the thawed creature was also collected by a South Korean expert on cloning in the hopes that he can replicate the extinct animal in modern times.

Such extraordinary measures to possess the puppy suggest that perhaps the Russian scientists never got that dog they wanted when they were kids.
