Sound Waves Levitate Drops of Liquid

Researchers at Argonne National Laboratory have discovered a way to use sound waves to levitate droplets of liquid. Acoustic pressure from a device that produces sound waves at frequencies just above the audible range (around 22kHz) essentially cancels the effect of gravity on light objects.
