Sun Unleashes Solar Plasma

A giant solar prominence erupted from the sun at 4:15am (EDT) Friday morning and was captured in stunning detail by NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory. The huge wave of super-charged solar plasma was many times larger than Earth and took only 10 hours before it was swept away, according to NASA media specialist Steele Hill. The current 11-year solar weather cycle is expected to reach its peak in 2013. More info from Space.com.
