The Red Planet's Newest Scar

A spectacular new image from NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter shows the scar of an enormous impact crater on the Red Planet's Elysium Planitia volcanic region. Astronomers estimate it was formed between February 2012 and June 2014. In the image a distinct crater rim can be clearly seen with ejecta that is much darker than the surrounding dust-covered terrain. Get more details at Mail Online.
