German company Festo has developed a robot based on the locomotion of the flic-flac spider. Dubbed BionicWheelBot, the unique robot can walk using six of its eight legs or fold them up to propel itself like a wheel. According to Festo, studies on the flic-flac spider inspired the design of an assortment of robots able to maneuver over difficult terrain. More at Unexplained Mysteries.
