Video: Enormous Sinkhole Swallows Street in Japan

Drivers in the Japanese city of Fukuoka will probably be late for work tomorrow after a monstrous sinkhole devoured a huge portion of a five lane street on Tuesday.

The massive 33-foot-deep chasm burst open in the morning near a major four-way intersection, spanning the entire street and coming perilously close to nearby buildings.

Amazingly, the sinkhole kept growing throughout the afternoon and, at last measurement, was an astounding 98-feet long!

Fortunately, no one was hurt when the initial event occurred, although the incident did cause chaotic traffic as well as the loss of electricity for numerous businesses and homes.

It is believed that the sinkhole was probably caused by subway construction happening elsewhere in the city.
