Video: Monkey Trouble Brewing in Tampa Bay

An unexplained monkey has been spotted by multiple people around Tampa Bay, Florida over the last two weeks, traveling through neighborhoods and even outwitting the police!

Thought to be a rhesus macaque, the creature has been seen on four separate occasions in different communities throughout Florida's Pinellas County.

Thanks to the digital age we live in, one witness was even to capture video of their encounter with the out-of-place animal.

Despite being caught on tape, the monkey has proven to be particularly elusive as it actually evaded several police officers and wildlife officials after being located last week in Clearwater.

Somehow, the brazen animal managed to escape from its would-be captors despite being outnumbered and remains at large.

However it's adventure may be short-lived if authorities have anything to say about it.

Wildlife expert Vernon Yates ominously told WFLA, "it may not happen today, it may not happen tomorrow, but we will get him."

Based on their first attempt to bag the beast, it might be a good idea to bring back up next time or at least a net.

That said, in light of what happened to Dave the giant earthworm, we're kind of hoping that the monkey can make it out of Florida before it gets taken into custody.
