A fisherman in Alaska was left awestruck after a feeding humpback whale swam over to his dock and suddenly burst out of the water in front of him.
The amazing scene unfolded after Cy Williams had noticed the monstrous creature swimming near his boat and bubbles began appearing on the surface of the water.
That strange sight was merely a prelude to the incredible moment when the whale emerged from the water with its enormous open mouth slowly closing shut.
After seeing the remarkable event, one can understand how seafaring people in the distant past may have imagined such animals to be menacing sea monsters.
Fortunately for Williams, the whale meant no harm and, much like the fisherman himself, was simply trying to catch something to eat.
