Treatment of a sick turtle in Thailand turned into an impromptu treasure hunt for veterinarians when they removed an astounding 915 coins from the creature's stomach!
In a remarkable seven-hour surgery, of which more than three hours were just spent completing the incredible 'withdrawal,' doctors removed the turtle's surprising coin collection.
The animal's unhealthy died is due to a Thai tradition which states that throwing coins into a turtle pond is good luck.
Considering that the turtle, named 'Om Sin,' survived both eating 915 coins and then having them surgically removed, perhaps the legend is true.
That said, the nouveau riche reptile now has another problem to deal with: how to spend all that money.
