A puzzling piece of footage from Albania seems to show some kind of creature emerging from a lake that just so happens to have a history of 'monster' sightings.
The strange video, filmed at the Great Prespa Lake, begins with an initial glance of the oddity and then takes something of a frantic turn as the person behind the camera, admirably, runs towards the water to get a better look at it.
When the picture stabilizes, one can see what looks like the head and neck of a creature poking out of the water with a pose that bears an uncanny resemblance to the iconic 'Surgeon's Photo' of Nessie lore.
The anomaly then slowly submerges out of sight, leaving observers to scratch their heads and wonder what exactly it may have been.
To some local residents, the footage is being seen as proof that the lake is home to a mysterious creature of some kind as a strikingly similar encounter was filmed there five years ago.
Remarkably, the video was compelling enough to inspire a group of journalists to visit the lake in an attempt to obtain further proof of the creature, but their impromptu expedition proved to be fruitless.
Not all Albanians from the area are convinced that the lake boasts a particularly exotic denizen as the prevailing theory among skeptics in the region is that the 'monster' is merely a catfish.
While we're open to any possible answer to the mystery, should the footage truly show the 'monster' said to lurk in the lake, then that's one weird-looking catfish.
