Watch: Scuba Diver Buzzed by Great White Shark?

A diver swimming off the coast of South Africa seemingly received an unsettling reminder of the dangers lurking in the water around him when a Great White Shark appeared to thump his head.

Incredible footage of the encounter, which was posted to a Facebook group devoted to fishing and diving in South Africa, went viral over the weekend with viewers amazed by the man's brush with danger.

In the video, the unnamed diver has his back turned to the oncoming shark as it swims toward him at a worrisome pace, culminating with the creature bumping the man on the top of his head.

No doubt astounded and more than a little terrified by what just happened, the diver ducks down with his hands over his head as the shark swims away.

As is often the case with amazing videos that create a stir online, some skeptical viewers are crying foul over the footage and claiming that it is fake.

The fact that the video was removed from the Facebook page where it was originally posted may, indeed, indicate some kind of shenanigans are afoot.

However, one shark expert who watched the footage suggested that it is probably real and marveled that it looks as if the creature managed to snag a piece of the diver's suit during their hair-raising run-in.
