Webb Space Telescope Images Upgraded with Chandra X-rays

The James Webb Space Telescope has been operational since the summer of 2022. In that brief time the new telescope has captured some of the most stunning portraits of the cosmos. It is hard to imagine images of space even more detailed than those from Webb but that is exactly what NASA has managed to accomplish. By combining data from the Chandra X-ray Observatory, the space agency has enhanced some of the first images captured by the Webb telescope. The improved images, which include Stephan's Quintet, Cartwheel Galaxy, SMACS J0723, and Carina Nebula, show how these telescopes can work together to produce a more enhanced and complete view of our universe. Astronomers plan to continue using Webb and Chandra in tandem to produce composite images of other celestial objects.
