Forget your razor and waxing strips-- future humans might ditch body hair altogether! Scientists predict that thanks to warm clothes, heated homes, and modern hygiene, our once-essential fur could vanish over thousands of years.
But hair isn’t the only thing on the chopping block. Wisdom teeth, those pesky third molars that often require extraction, might become a thing of the past. With softer, processed diets, these extra grinders are less useful-- and less common.
Also, up for elimination is the tailbone, or coccyx-- that evolutionary souvenir from when we had tails for balance. Nowadays, it’s mostly a pain in the... well, tailbone. As we continue to lounge on flat surfaces instead of climbing trees, this bony relic might fade away too.
Back in the 19th century, thinkers like Herbert Spencer suggested this possible hairless, streamlined future. Some futurists even argue a bald, parasite-free existence could be cleaner and healthier. Of course, all this evolution won’t happen overnight-- unless genetic engineering speeds things up. How do you see humans evolving? Share your thoughts with us on our Facebook page.
