April Fool's Day Pranks

Date

Hosted byGeorge Noory

Just before the start of Open Lines, George played two audio clips and afterwards asked Fast Blasters to vote for the one they thought was a recording of Art Bell. He later revealed that clip #1 was Art Bell; clip #2 was radio host Phil Hendrie impersonating Art. George also offered a special topic line for people to share their best April Fool's Day pranks.

One caller recounted how he spent a year planning his April Fool's prank on his wife. The caller said he recorded the April 1, 2004 lottery drawing, then bought tickets using those winning numbers for the April 1, 2005 lottery. Just before the televised drawing, the caller said he secretly inserted the year old video tape, pressed play and asked his wife to check the numbers while he left the room. Imagine her surprise when she finally realized they didn't actually win the lottery.

Colleen in Nevada played a prank on her boss at a local bar. Calling on some fellow co-workers to distract the president of her company, Colleen snuck out of the bar, purchased live goldfish, and placed them into her boss's mug of beer. Jim from New York said he found three nationally syndicated cartoons that shared the same story about a Ouija Board and mentioned him in the storyline. Another caller said he dressed up like Bigfoot to trick a friend, but was seen by a group of people with guns who decided to hunt him down.

Other interesting calls included 'Spike Mike' from the Fantastic Forum with a humorous interview with R2D2, and a revisit from previous caller Oscar, who claims to be the Son of Satan. Oscar said he currently inhabits a woman named Rachel, who will shortly participate in an exorcism to rid herself of him. Oscar claims he cannot be cast out and has been involved in 107 exorcisms since 1936. He also said the world would end in 2007.

Papal Prophecy Update

During an earlier appearance on Coast, Father Andrew Wingate shared prophetic visions regarding Pope John Paul II. On that show, Wingate predicted the Pope would be cured of a serious illness. Despite reports from the Vatican of the Pope's imminent death, Wingate believes the Pope is not going to die. In the first hour of Friday's show, he said the Pope would be cured by a group of mystics who will travel to Rome and become important figures in the church. If the Pope does pass away, however, Wingate said he would "have to reevaluate many things."
