China: Espionage & War

Date

Hosted byGeorge Noory

Consultant Charles R. Smith discussed the implications of recent Chinese espionage related to U.S. military secrets and the possibility of war with China. He also detailed how some American companies such as Yahoo and Cisco have aided China in its tracking down of dissidents, through the usage of their software and hardware.

Chinese military agents in America were recently charged with theft of US government property, and may have compromised some of the US's weapon systems, he reported. One un-indicted co-conspirator is actually a General in the Chinese military, he noted. China is growing more belligerent and has connections to terrorism, through its sale of weapons such as shoulder-fired missiles, Smith continued.

In a scenario for possible war, he suggested the trigger may come from internal pressures within China, rather than external forces in America. He paralleled the upcoming 2008 Olympics (in Beijing) to the 1936 games in Germany, and posited that after the games, China may be ready to attack Taiwan. By this time, they will have accumulated enough military might to possibly defeat the US Navy, he added. Smith argued that Americans should avoid buying products made in China, as the profits go towards their war efforts and building of nuclear weapons.
