Future of the Mind/ Ghost Rockets

In the first half, Dr. Michio Kaku discussed the astonishing scientific research on the mind being done in top laboratories, based on the latest advancements in neuroscience and physics. Our mind is the most complex object, perhaps in the known universe, and now some of its mysteries are being revealed as we are able to peer directly into the thinking brain, he marveled. The brain is different from a computer-- it's a learning machine, a neural network that rewires itself after learning a new task, he explained, and a large portion of it is devoted to unconscious thoughts and emotions which gives us often useful involuntary responses. In the coming years, more people will have chips that connect their brains to computers to augment their abilities (currently used for paralyzed people), he detailed.

We can now insert a memory into a mouse, next will be primates, and then people with Alzheimer's and dementia, and eventually we may be able to upload information directly into our hippocampus (the region of the brain associated with memory). A 'smart pill' to enhance our cognition or enable photographic memory will likely be developed, and people will have chip implants that will, for example, telepathically control lights in their home, or direct their car to a specific destination, in a future world where computers will be "everywhere and nowhere," he posited. Kaku also described a recent experiment involving an MRI scan of the brain of a sleeping person, which revealed images of what the person was actually dreaming about.

In the latter half, writer, researcher and skeptic, Micah Hanks, talked about sightings of what he called "Ghost Rockets--" mysterious missiles and phantom projectiles seen as far back as 1946, and going up to present day when they are typically referred to as UFOs. Missiles and projectiles tend to be thought of as having an earthly origin because of their shape, he pointed out. The most famous historical cases of Ghost Rockets came from Scandinavia, especially Sweden, right after WWII, demonstrating cruise missile technologies that didn't exist in 1946, but might have been part of a covert or black military project such as run by the Nazis, he suggested.

Reports from the Aviation Reporting System (maintained by NASA) from such people as pilots, and FAA officials, document anomalous aerial phenomena in which objects shaped like bullets, torpedoes, missiles or projectiles behave in odd ways such as flying too close to other aircraft. Some of the incidents suggest a possible a non-terrestrial source, he admitted, such as in a summer 1946 sighting in which a pilot who was flying to MacDill AFB saw a craft that was around twice the size of a B29. It had a wingless fuselage (sometimes referred to as a 'flying cigar' shape) with illuminated portholes, and moved past him at an incredible speed. Hanks also addressed such topics as TWA Flight 800, the Phoenix Lights, the Brown Mountain Lights, and the Black Knight Satellite mystery.
