Ouija Board Insights / Travis Walton Abduction

In the first half, author, counselor, and Ouija board researcher Karen A. Dahlman delved into the mysteries and misconceptions surrounding the Ouija board. She argued that the board, often feared or sensationalized, is actually a profound gateway to expanded consciousness and self-realization. "The spookiness is really only a reflection of our own collective fear of the unseen, the unknown," she remarked, as she urged listeners to approach the board with "curiosity [and] gratitude" to access wisdom and awareness. Sharing her personal journey, she revealed that she grew up with clairvoyant abilities and has used the Ouija board for decades as a "neutral device" to access or channel spirit communications.

"It's not the tool doing it. It's the operator," she continued, highlighting the importance of intention and energy management when using the board. She warned that fear and negative energy can distort the experience, while positive intention invites guidance and insight. Regarding the planchette —the small device that moves across the board to spell out messages —she cited the scientific explanation known as the ideomotor effect, where unconscious muscle movements guide the planchette. Yet, Dahlman pointed out that even if subconscious, these movements can facilitate profound insights, likening the experience to self-hypnosis that taps into deeper consciousness.

She warned against fear or thrill-seeking, which can "cloud the energy" and invite unwanted experiences. Instead, she advocates grounding oneself, setting clear intentions, and approaching sessions with love to ensure clarity and safety. She characterized Hollywood's portrayal of Ouija boards as fear-driven and demon-centric, and done mainly to sell tickets. And while she acknowledged hearing about people's negative experiences with the board, she attributed them to the operator's mindset rather than the board itself, which simply "mirrors what we feed it."

In the latter half, C2C's investigative reporter Cheryll Jones presented her interview with Travis Walton, whose 1975 alien abduction case remains one of the most documented and controversial UFO incidents. Marking the 50th anniversary, Walton recounted the moment he and his logging crew encountered a large metallic craft hovering close to the road in an Arizona forest, emitting a throbbing, powerful sound. He described feeling a "numbing shock," as the crew said a "beam of blue laser," threw him violently through the air, leading to his mysterious five-day disappearance and his coworkers being suspected of murder. Walton detailed waking up aboard the craft, confronted by grey-skinned beings who communicated telepathically, lacking facial expressions.

"I flailed at them in a threatening way, and they took off," he said, adding that he was later escorted off the craft by a human-looking figure and found himself on a highway near the town of Heber, where he made a collect call to his family before collapsing. Discussing the aftermath, Walton emphasized the intense pressure and skepticism he faced upon return and the rigorous medical and polygraph tests he underwent, along with the other crew members. He highlighted that, unlike typical abduction narratives, his experience seemed more accidental than hostile: "I really think that this discharge energy was probably not a weapon;" instead, it was an accidental discharge, "caused by the fact that I suddenly closed the distance."

Revealing a shift in his interpretation of the event, Walton now considers it a rescue after his injury rather than an abduction. He also shared intriguing findings from the area, noting "boosted growth" in pine trees near the encounter site, similar to patterns found around crop circles and nuclear incidents, suggesting unexplained environmental effects linked to UFO activity. In the last hour, Travis appeared live, along with George and Cheryll, taking questions from callers.
