Comets & Meteors

Date

Hosted byArt Bell

Astronomer Alan Hale discussed the spectacular comet which was named after him and another astronomer. Art had just gotten a telescope as a gift, and expressed his amazement at the sight of this celestial object. In the first three hours of the program, Hale described what comets are, where they come from, and the orbital characteristics of the comet that bore his name. He also discussed the film Meteor and its accuracy depicting something from outer space impacting the Earth.

The last two hours featured Open Lines, with Art asking for reports on or recordings of the HAARP signal.
