Father Malachi Martin discussed the brutal murder of exorcist Father Alfred Kunz in Wisconsin, whose throat was "cut from ear to ear," an act "normally associated with Satanist-inflicted death." Martin linked this to Kunz's work in demonic possession. He noted a "750%" increase in demonic assaults since the early 1970s, including new phenomena like "pacts with Satan" and child possession. Regarding a recent triple death in the Vatican, Martin stated it was "impossible that should happen without demonic interference," recalling Pope Paul VI's words, "the smoke of Satan has entered the sanctuary."
He criticized Pope John Paul II's ecumenical actions, such as meeting a voodoo priest and participating in Hindu rituals, calling them "unheard of in Catholic tradition" and suggesting the Pope "has drawn on himself a demonic intention which he could have avoided."
Martin spoke of a coming "wholesale apostasy amongst clerics and laity in the Catholic Church," linked to the "very frightening" Fatima prophecy. He also discussed a widespread sense of "imminent change" and the potential for Y2K to lead to "chaos and anarchy."
