Dr. Michio Kaku is an internationally recognized authority in theoretical physics and the environment. He has lectured around the world and his Ph.D. level textbooks are required reading at many of the top physics laboratories. Staying for the entire program, Prof. Kaku first spoke about genetic engineering advances that would help us to live longer. One such gene, telomerase, allows for replacement of short bits of DNA known as telomeres. He envisioned a time in the future where you might get a shot – injecting a perfect gene that will replace a damaged gene in the body. He predicted we'd be able to grow livers and kidneys in just twenty years. In forty years, he believes we might be able to grow limbs.

Kaku also foresaw that the internet would soon enable us to ask questions about anything simply by speaking them out loud, and then receiving instant answers. He discussed the rise of artificial intelligence, and the idea that it could develop consciousness that might have its own goals that wouldn't align with ours.

As our civilization advances, he believes we could open up holes in space like the looking glass in Alice in Wonderland. But opening up that hole would take the same amount of energy as a star. Kaku also touched on the dangers of launching plutonium-powered probes and his efforts to derive a 'theory of everything' which would combine all theories of matter and energy into one simple equation.
